Update from Beirut

A massive explosion rocked Beirut yesterday. Over 100 people died in the blast, thousands were injured, and hundreds more are unaccounted for.

We are thankful that all Rainbow Street team members and beneficiaries in the city have confirmed that they are safe. We reached out to check in with other friends and colleagues in the city, and all have so far confirmed that they are alright. Everyone is shaken, and we grieve with them for the terrible loss of life and the incredible damage of this catastrophe.

Beirut was already experiencing an economic crisis, and medical infrastructure was falling behind the demands of the Covid-19 pandemic. The increased strain on the city’s infrastructure is tragically clear. We encourage all who can to donate to the Beirut Disaster Relief Fund managed by Impact Lebanon.
